Selective networking should be a part of the day job, not just a ‘nice to do’. Sharing issues and experiences with other in-house lawyers in your geographical area or in the same sector of activity or in a similar situation can be really valuable. While the therapy of ‘it’s nice to know you have the same preoccupations or difficulties’ is helpful, networking needs to deliver some other benefits.
Why not discuss with others in the same locality having a session on a particular aspect of in-house performance? We can run such a session to meet your agenda. As the organiser or host, you will have a free place and other participants will pay much less than for events which have to be marketed and held at commercial venues.
Join your national professional association and take an interest in what is being organised.
Whilst the content of other associations’ web sites is often only accessible to members, it can be interesting to see what is going on in other parts of the world. |
